Sant Jaume square

Sant Jaume square. That’s where you will find a piece of our history.
It was the center of the roman Barcino, and nowadays it is the location of Palau de la Generalitat and the city council.
And you know what?
Apart from this, Plaça Sant Jaume is where people meet when there are demonstrations.
And of course, where we celebrate the victories of our sport teams.
Just in case, I’m preparing myself.

El parc de la Ciutadella, Barcelona’s lungs

Welcome to one of the greenest zones in the city.
El Parc de la Ciutadella was the first public park in Barcelona, specifically designed and built for this purpose.
Do you like animals? Visit the zoo, one of the biggest in Europe.
Do you prefer museums? You have the Geology or Zoology ones.
A fan of nature? There is the Greenhouse.
And sculptures (including a Walt Disney one!).
And a little lake.
And many, many more. People who live in the city love to spend their weekends walking and enjoying the park. Do the same!
But remember that, in the park, there is an ancient creature waiting for you.
Treat it friendly, and everything will be alright!

Finding Sant Felip Neri

Discovering a peaceful place in the heart of Barcelona may be difficult… but not impossible.
Sant Felip Neri is a little square, very near from the cathedral, but it’s atmosphere is very different.
You will find a church, a fountain, and the calm that lacks in its surroundings. In fact, it’s such a beautiful place, that the music group Evanescence shooted their videoclip “My immortal” here.
Sant Felip Neri’s history is really dramatic, but it makes the place even more special.
And don’t worry if you don’t know where it is… Just follow Gina!

La castanyada

31st october means candles, sweets, ghosts, zombies and witches all over the world… Yeah, it’s Halloween time!
But we have to say that in Barcelona, we are more into “la castanyada”. What? You don’t know about it?
OK. Just take a look at the video. We eat “castanyes” and “panellets”. They are delicicous, but they aren’t really diet food…
But hey, it’s just for one day!
Remember that only these days you will see our “castanyers i castanyeres” all around the city, so it’s in october or never!

We almost forgot! Here we had “castanyes”, and here, “panellets”. Enjoy!

The Port Vell

I have the perfect plan for a saturday in Barcelona. Have you heard about the Port Vell?
That’s the place to go. First, you can start by visiting Aquàrium, the biggest aquarium in Europe, where you can see some sharks, and even swim with them! Then, charge batteries at one of the many restaurants. After having a delicious lunch, take your wallet out of your bag and go shopping: clothes, shoes, jewels and many more things are waiting for you. And finally, feel the breath of some dinosaurs or take a dive into the sea world at the 3D cinema.
Not bad, isn’t it?
And of course, don’t forget having a walk around the harbour and see the magnificient ships and boats in it!
Maybe you’ll see mine… In case someone wants to buy one for me!

La Barceloneta

I love Barceloneta!
It has everything you can imagine. You can go to the beach, have a dive or even take a ride on your bicycle. In fact, you will see a lot people doing exercise at any hour of the day!
But above all, I like because there is always a lot of people. It’s really a lively place! There are lots of shops, bars and restaurants. In fact, I met two friends during the shooting… You’ll have to watch the video if you want to meet them!
And finally, to make your day complete, I recommend you to have some “patates braves” with a cold beer. You’ll never regret it!

Beaches in Barcelona

Some people wonder why Barcelona’s inhabitants have their skin tanned after holidays.
Our beaches, that’s why.
Because the weather allows us to sunbathe after work during a lot of months.
Actually, it is not necessary to come in summer to enjoy a good time at Barceloneta’s beach, for example.
So, even if it’s june or september, pack your swimsuit, just in case!
